Comment Policy

Comments are open on every article because readers regularly know things we do not. A person from the desk reads the discussion and updates the guide when a comment reveals something we got wrong or left out.

What we welcome

First-hand experience, corrections with a source, follow-up questions and better ways of doing the thing described in the article.

Disagreement is fine and often useful. Say what you would do differently and why.

What gets removed

Personal attacks, harassment, hate speech, sexually explicit material, threats and anything encouraging dangerous or illegal behaviour.

Spam, self-promotion, affiliate or referral links, scraped text, repeated posting of the same message and impersonation of another person or organisation.

Medical, legal or financial instructions presented as professional advice. Share what you did; do not tell strangers what to do with their health or money.

How moderation works

Links are blocked automatically. Everything else is read by an editor, and comments that break the rules above are removed without notice.

You can delete your own comment at any time using the delete link beneath it.

Privacy

A comment stores only the name you type and the text you write, kept in your own browser so you can edit or remove it. Do not post personal data — yours or anyone else's — in a public comment.

To report a comment, email editorial@example.com with the article URL.
